WATCH WHAT HE DOES!

Something good will happen to you today, something that you have been waiting for to hear.  Please do not break.  Just 27 words:

cid:1.2902768374@web161705.mail.bf1.yahoo.com
God our Father, walk through my house and take away all my worries and illnesses and please watch over and heal my family in Jesus name, Amen.  This prayer is so powerful.  Pass this to 12 people including me.

A blessing is coming to you in form of a new job, a house, marriage or financially. Do not break or ask questions.  This is a test.  Does God come first in your life?

If so, stop what you are doing, and send it to 12 people now.  Watch what He does.

Support me while I participate in Marathon for the Cure!

A message from Lisa De La Luz lisa.delaluz@yahoo.com.

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently accepted the challenge to join the San Antonio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as they team up with the Rock n Roll San Antonio Marathon and Half Marathon. On November 14, 2010, I will not just be running the streets of San Antonio I also will be showing my support for ending breast cancer forever as part of Susan G. Komen Marathon for the Cure.

Because everyone is affected by breast cancer in one way or another – a disease that strikes at random and for which the causes are still unknown – I know that every moment counts. This year more than 40,000 women will be diagnosed with the disease in the U.S. Without the cures more than 10 million women worldwide could die over the next 25 years. That’s unacceptable, and I’m doing something about it.

As part of Komen San Antonio Marathon for the Cure team, I have committed to raising funds that will be used to further breast cancer research, screening, education and treatment.  Will you support me? It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message.

Whatever you can give will help, it all adds up! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Sincerely,

Lisa De La Luz

About La Mission

More Info
La Mission
Synopsis:  Growing up in the Mission district of San Francisco, Che Rivera has always had to be tough to survive. He's a powerful man respected throughout the Mission barrio for his masculinity and his strength, as well as for his hobby building beautiful lowrider cars. A reformed inmate and recovering alcoholic, Che has worked hard to redeem his life and do right by his pride and joy: his only son, Jes, whom he has raised on his own after the death of his wife. Che's path to redemption is tested, however, when he discovers Jes is gay. To survive his neighborhood, Che has always lived with his fists. To survive as a complete man, he'll have to embrace a side of himself he's never shown.

Part heartfelt drama and part love letter to a uniquely American neighborhood, La Mission tells many stories: that of a man who fights to reconcile the life he thought he had with the one he has; that of a violent but respected father's turbulent relationship with his gay teenage son; and that of a community with conflicting values struggling to hold onto its history and culture. La Mission is a haunting story of love, healing, and transformation that bucks conventional filmmaking and storytelling to craft a singular, affecting glimpse at a vibrant, real, but often hidden segment of life in the U.S.  Filmmakers Peter and Benjamin Bratt were born in San Francisco and grew up in and around the city's Mission district. Home to immigrant and low income families, to painters, poets, white hipsters, Latin b-boys and junkies, the Mission left its stamp on who the Bratt brothers are and how they view the world around them. La Mission is a reflection of the impact the Mission had on their lives, presenting a lifestyle and place that is at once urban, Latino, indigenous, and uncommonly human. The film beautifully and intensely portrays a proud man's struggle to accept a changing society, living in a neighborhood battling to end its own cycle of violence and intolerance. Benjamin Bratt leads the ensemble cast in a powerful and thought-provoking piece that takes a hard look at the circumstances of the people and families who struggle with these issues every day.La Mission also stars Erika Alexander, Jeremy Ray Valdez, Jesse Borrego, and Talisa Soto Bratt.

Has everyone seen the film yet?

Great, because "La Mission" Street Team still needs your help!

Here are a few things you can do that don't take much time, but would really aid in our efforts:

  • Start by posting comments on all the social networks--Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, letting others know about the film ask them to visit the website www.lamissionthemovie.com.  Full details and publicity pics can be found on the website, so by all means access the information.   Blog away.....
  • If you are not already a fan of La Mission on Facebook, please add them and share with all your friends.
  • Access the Fandango website and rate the movie (ask your friends to do the same)  here is the link: http://www.fandango.com/lamission_124084/movieoverview.
  • Word of mouth ...spread the word about the film
If you have any questions please contact the San Antonio liason:  Donato Arredondo @ 210-240-6356 or email him at omeyocan13@yahoo.com.

Martin Marroquin-Saturday, April 8th 2006

REMINDER: Saturday, April 8th we are hosting a fundraiser meeting at Lisa (DeLaLuz) Johnson's house at 12 noon.

We will be discussing the BBQ Plate sale and other types of fundraising for Martin.  Please join us and bring all your bright ideas.

Following the meeting at 3:00pm there will be another prayer service being held at the SAAF House located on Grayson Street.  Martin's Family will be providing a cake and fruit tray for anyone wanting to join them.  The prayers are already working and Martin has been able to take food now daily since last Saturday.

For those of you who can not make the prayer service we are asking everyone to pray for Martin to continue to take his food.  We are praying that he can be put back on Carelink at the University Hospital so that he can get the proper medical treatment he needs and that he can be put back on his meds soon.  We also are asking that God look over all those people in Martin's life especially Gilbert for taking care of Martin and putting his best interest ahead of everything else.  But most importantly we are praying that he continues to make progress so he can return home.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact Yvette Martinez or Lisa (DeLaLuz) Johnson.

Thank you and God Bless You.

Adams Moma Patrol Dies

For those of you like me who attended Adams Elementary, you may remember the Moma Patrol who stood at the corner of Southcross and Pleasanton Road. She stood there for many years up until recently. She passed away on Saturday of cancer. Her orbituary is found at:

Martin Marroquin

As many of you already know, there was an article on the front page of the Express & News on Sunday regarding The Aids Crisis getting worse.  If you read the caption under the photo you all may have realized that our fellow friend and classmate Martin Marroquin is in desperate need of our prayers.

I spoke with Gilbert Gonzales (his partner of 14 years) today and he gave me an update on Martin's condition:

At this time he is at a the worse level possible for his illness, he is not taking in any food, so the foundation wants to cut off his meds.  Gilbert is asking for us to pray that Martin gets enough strength back to take food, so he can continue his meds.  The meds he is taking, are so strong that if he does not have food in his stomach, the medicine does no good because it just comes back up and doesn't have enough time to get into his system.

Gilbert has been staying with Martin and has been his sole support for a very long time.  Gilbert said that whoever wants to stop by and help Martins spirits or pray for him anything would be welcomed.  At this point we are praying for a Miracle.

If you'd like to visit with Martin and Gilbert they are located at:

San Antonio Aids Foundation  House
818 E. Grayson
San Antonio Texas

Martin's Room Number is 304, you can visit any day and at any time.

I will be stopping by to visit with Martin and Gilbert on Friday after lunch time with Lisa Johnson (DeLaLuz) and John Garcia.  If anyone else would like to join us, let me know.  Gilbert wants to express his thanks to everyone who has shown an interest in seeing Martin and praying for him.

Please take some time to visit with a friend that we all have so many good memories of, he was a always fun to be around and always made so many of us laugh.

Thank you and God Bless.
